The facilities
at Waverley include more than thirty stables, an indoor riding school with a
heated viewing gallery, an all-weather surface boarded for arena polo. There
are cross-country fences, show-jumps, a horse walker, a secure tack-room, two
wash boxes, staff houses and a home which sleeps up to 18 in dormitory style
accommodation.
Waverley hosts a collection of equestrian vacations and
caters for almost all equestrian disciplines. Training schedules range from
half a day to two weeks with weekend breaks being especially popular. There is
a large variety of horses available for fox-hunting, cross-country,
show-jumping, cavalry drills, polo or just trekking through the beautiful
Cotswold countryside. There are six bedrooms and three bathrooms in
Waverley's main house, a sitting and dining room, a laundry area and a large
kitchen. The garden over-looks the paddocks and is much used in the summer when
the bar-b-cue comes into its own or our Argentinean polo players cook an Asado.
More sophisticated accommodation is available close by with four-poster beds
instead of bunks!
Michael and Diana Jack, Waverley's proprietors, have a
tennis court and swimming pool at their near-by home at Stoneleigh Abbey and
their guests are often invited to join them for an afternoon or evening's
activities in their lovely garden. Stratford-upon-Avon is only ten miles away
and the castles of Warwick and Kenilworth are even closer.
Waverley has its own breeding program and there are
always foals and young horses needing attention. All the horses pictured on
this site are home-bred and form part of the Waverley family.
There are
a variety of Livery options at Waverley which range from DIY @ £15
per week for summer grazing and £25 per week for winter stabling, to full
livery including presentation for polo, foxhunting or competitions @
£125.
Waverley is situated on the Coventry Road on the outskirts
of Cubbington. Approaching from Leamington, take the B4453 towards Rugby. This
road will take you through Cubbington. Take the last turning on the left before
leaving the village; signposted to Stoneleigh and called the Coventry Road.
Waverley Equestrian Centre is the last drive on the right. |
